Time management is not only about managing your time – it is also about managing your energy.

You could have all of the time in the world, but if you don’t have the energy to pursue your goals and wants, then what do you really have? How productive are you being?

If you want to figure out how to make better use of your time, start by asking yourself where you get energy from.

How is energy being created in your days? How is energy being drained?

Find the 20% of your day when energy is being created, when you feel the most alive, and make most of your day circle around those types of activities.

Here’s an exercise you can try.

Think about a really good day – what were you doing on that day? Contrast that with a bad day – how were you spending your time that day? Then think about how you can shift your daily activities to align with your good days.

This makes it more likely you’ll get energy from your days, which will not only set you up to be able to tackle bigger challenges but also help you enjoy your days more.
