I was talking with my friend Larry recently about how to work through a challenging project. His advice was to proportionalize, prioritize, focus and execute.
My take on how to define that:
- Proportionalize: Figure out how big and important each task is, relative to each other and relative to other projects and priorities
- Prioritize: Identify the tasks that, if completed, would add the most value – move the ball forward, make everything easier/better/faster
- Focus: Pick three tasks to work on. Or maybe just one. Put everything else on hold.
- Execute: Do. Take action. Complete. Accomplish.
Proportionalize. Prioritize. Focus. Execute.
Simple but powerful.
