If you’ve ever felt like you weren’t moving in the direction you want to go, you should ask yourself “am I in?”
This is a question that comes from the phrase “are you in or out.” It is the question that asks whether you are committed.
If you are “in” you have decided to do it. You understand what will be required and what sacrifices you may need to make. You’ve told family and friends. You’ve made a promise to yourself to follow through and you intend to keep it.
If you are not in, then you are working from a place of instability. When you run into the inevitable challenges and roadblocks that impede progress, you’ll question what you are doing and why you are doing it. You’ll think about going back to things were before or exploring other, easier alternatives. And you commitment will wane.
People praise those who have grit, motivation and follow through. But where does grit come from? It comes from a decision to be in — a decision you make in a moment, and that you commit to over and over again through the actions you take.
Make the choice to be in for the things that are important to you, and see where that decision leads you. You’re likely to end up in a beautiful place.
